The Department of Chemistry and Technology of Oil and Gas Processing

University carries out training of engineers of chemical technology who will work at oil refinery enterprises. The Department trains highly-qualified technologists.

Starting from the 3rd Year of study students proceed to mastering the disciplines of the program. The cycle of these disciplines presupposes 3 course presentations and 2 course papers. This gives the students the opportunity to gain some practical experience in different types of calculations, technological schemes designing, and many other spheres of professional activity. At the end of the whole training course the students pass a degree examination and present their diploma projects.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AND LABOR PROTECTION

Since 1968 students are trained on the programme ‘Equipment for the Chemical Industry and Enterprises of Construction Materials’. The graduates are qualified as mechanical engineers and can work at different oil-refining and other types of enterprises.

It is also possible to conduct research on a post-graduate program ‘Equipment for the Chemical Technology

DEPARTMENT OF PIPELINE TRANSPORT, WATER SUPPLY AND HYDRAULICS

Since 1995 the department trains future engineers on the program ‘Design, Assembling, and Exploitation of Gas and Oil Pipelines’. The specialists will be able to work at enterprises and organizations dealing with transportation, storage, and distribution of oil and gas.

During the whole period of training the students will have to master the following disciplines:

•             Hydromechanics and Aerodynamics Hydraulic Actuator and Hydraulic Automatics

The Department of Pipeline Transport, Water Supply and Hydraulics is the main founder of the International Ecological Symposium and the International Scientific Conference ‘Safety and Security of the Header Pipeline Transport’

 

DEPARTMENT OF HEAT AND GAS SUPPLY, AND VENTILATION 

The graduates deal with the issues of building and exploitation of the systems of heat supply, ventilation, air conditioning; gas supply of civil and industrial objects; air protection.

The main disciplines of the curriculum:

•             Air Conditioning and Cold Supply

•             Technology of Building and Installation Work, etc.

The students have several practical trainings during the whole course:

•             geodetic training

•             introductory training

•             technological training

•             organizational and technological training

•             pre-graduation training

After finishing the whole course of training a specialist is given the qualification of a civil engineer.

Our graduates can work:

•             at civil and specialized building and fitting enterprises and organizations;

•             at enterprises and organizations that deal with adjustment, exploitation, maintenance and reconstruction of the systems of heat and gas supply, ventilation, conditioning and air purification;

•             at heat producing and heat and gas consuming installations;

•             at enterprises and organizations that carry out the design of the systems of heat and gas supply, ventilation, conditioning and air purification in civil, public, and industrial buildings.

The Department conducts research in the following areas:

•             design and introduction of resource saving systems of heat and gas supply, ventilation, purification of industrial emissions;

•             design of ecological and economical apparatus of gas consuming devices and systems of ventilation;

•             optimization of the processes of heat and mass exchange while thermal treatment of different materials and products.

There is a possibility to conduct research on a post-graduate program ‘Heat Supply, Ventilation, Air- Conditioning, Gas Supply, and Lighting’

The lecturers at the Department together with their students carry out research work and take part in different seminars, conferences, and symposia

 

Chemical Technology of Natural Energy Sources and Carbon Materials

 ‘Chemical Technology of Natural Energy Sources and CarbonMaterials’ is one of the most prestigious (among the technical ones) . Students have to know that future specialists in this field solve practically all current issues and they manage the work of all departments and even whole enterprises. They are in charge of many other specialists (mechanical engineers, electricians, instrument tenders, heating engineers, economists, and many others) so that future technologists have to be not only well educated but to be able to work with people.Chemical technology is a science, a field of practical activity, and even art in a way. A very important aspect is students’ scientific work. The students are awarded prizes at the annual Republic competition of students’ research works. In addition to this there are additional classes on ecological science in the network of Baltic University program (Sweden).

The work on development and presentation of diploma projects is well organized at the department. The choice of issues meets the modern level of development of science and technique, and the objects under research are real enterprises.

The qualification given – ‘mechanical engineer’

.Our specialists can work at different enterprises of oil refinement and other fields. All graduates ge the first working place that can provide them with the highest salaries in the republic.

The students’ practical training is carried out mainly at plants “Naftan”, “Polymir”, and “Polotsk-Steklovolokno”. At these enterprises the students also get the material for their course and diploma projects.

What is Chemical Engineering?

Chemical Engineering – is a field of knowledge that represents the interconnection of Chemistry and engineering sciences. Production processes of Chemical Engineering consist of numerous chemical, biological, and physical processes. Chemical and biological processes change chemical nature of substances; with the help of physical processes substances change their shape and modify, cool down, or warm up. These processes have enormous value for global economy.

HEAT AND  GAS  SUPPLY, VENTILATION   AND   AIR  PROTECTION

 

The qualification given – ‘civil engineer’. A future specialist investigates the questions of building and exploitation of the systems of heat supply, heating, ventilation, conditioning, gas supply of civil and industrial objects, and the environment protection.

The main disciplines: engineering thermodynamics; heat-mass exchange; heating; ventilation; heat supply; air conditioning and cold supply; ventilation of special buildings; perspective and non-traditional systems of gas and heat supply and ventilation; metrology, etc.Practical trainings: geodetic, training and introductory, I – production, II – production, pre graduation.

                                               

The deterioration of the ecological state of water resources makes it more and more difficult to provide the population with high quality water. The solution of this problem is not an easy task and it presupposes the specialists’ deep knowledge in different fields of modern science, technique, and technologies.That is why students master different subjects during the whole period of training:

•             mechanics of liquids, water chemistry and microbiology;

•             pumps and pump stations, water intake structures, networks of water supply and water utilization, technology of purification of natural and drain waters, and many others.

During the period of training students carry out course projects and have practical trainings. At the final stage students work on diploma projects and then present them. The themes of the diplomas are connected with a complex solving of all issues that touch the system of water supply and water utilization in a town or at the enterprises.The graduates are qualified as civil-processing engineers. This qualification gives the right to work in scientific and research, design and building organizations, and many other institutions.

There also exists the opportunity to get a post graduate training
