Rules of stay of Foreign Citizens

Foreigners residing in the Republic of Belarus must have a valid document for travel abroad (passport), migration card and other documents that prove that these foreigners reside (live) in the Republic of Belarus on legal grounds, and to present them at the request of officials of the bodies of internal affairs, state security and the border service of the Republic of Belarus.

In the territory of the Republic of Belarus foreign citizens and stateless persons are obliged to:

  • Register within five (5) days (except Sundays, public holidays and public holidays established and announced by the President of the Republic of Belarus as non-working) at the Interior authority at the actual place of temporary residence;
  • Reside in the Republic of Belarus in the abiding place (where they are registered at the migration department) only;
  • Register within five days in case of the address change (except Sundays, public holidays and public holidays established and announced by the President of the Republic of Belarus as non-working) at the organ of registration at the new place of residence;

In the absence of legal grounds for continued stay in the Republic of Belarus, foreigners are required to leave the Republic of Belarus before the end of the period of temporary stay or residence.

Contact the International Student Office at your educational institutions on the matter of registration, renewal of registration and other issues concerning residence in the Republic of Belarus in advance.

Violation of the above mentioned legal regulations punishable by paragraph 1 of Article 23.55 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Belarus with the imposition of sanctions: a warning, imposing a fine of up to fifty base units or deportation.

Reduction the period of temporary stay or cancellation of a permit for temporary residence in the Republic of Belarus, followed by deportation or expulsion from the Republic of Belarus might be in the case of the repeated violations by a foreign national or a stateless person of the regulations of criminal, administrative and other legislation of the Republic of Belarus
